2018 Pongal festival Bus Operation from Chennai

Tamilnadu Government has planned to ease the Pongal festival bus operation from chennai. The passengers who travel during the pongal festival from 11/01/2018 to 13/01/2018. The private, public and other vehicle operators are advised to plan accordingly.

Andhra Buses

Andhra going buses are said to be operated from Anna nagar west MTC bus stand

ECR via buses operation

From Saidapet Bus stop the buses to Puducherry, Cuddalore and Chidambaram buses will be operated

Kumbakonam via buses

From Arignar Anna Bus stand, Tambaram Sanatorium the buses to Kumbakonam and Thanjavur will be operated

Buses via vellore

From Poonamalle Bus Stand the buses will be operated to Arcot, Arani, Vellore, Dharmapuri, Thirupathur and Hosur via Poonamalle

Buses from CMBT

All other city Pongal festival bus will be operated as usual from CMBT, Koyambedu. The buses to the cities to be operated from CMBT are Guruvayur, Kottarakara, Ernakulam, Bangalore, Dindigul, Rameswaram, Panrutti, Tuticorin, Thiruchendur, Nagercoil, Neyveli, Villupuram, Kallakurichi, Tiruvannamalai, Myladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Velankanni, Trichy, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Shencottah, Kanyakumari, Marthandam,Trivandrum, Karaikudi, Kancheepuram, Salem, Karur, Erode and Coimbatore.

Divrsions of Pongal Festival Bus Route

The buses reserved from CMBT, Koyambedu is to go via Maduravoyal, Poonamallee, Nazarathpet, outer ring road, Vandalur instead of Tambaram, Perungalathur.
The passengers who have reserved with boarding point at Tambaram and Perungalathur are requested to board the buses at Urapakkam Temporary bus stop instead of Tambaram and Perungalathur at the boarding time mentioned.

Car and other Vehicles

During the period from 11/01/2018 to 13/01/2018 to avoid congestion of traffic, car and other light vehicle travellers are requested to avoid the route via Tambaram, Perungalathur by taking diversion via Tirukazhukundam, Chengalpattu / Sriperumbudur, Chengalpattu.
